Large Structure Production Center at Odense Port

The World's First Robotics Center for Large Structures

Odense Port is not just a wind port but also a knowledge port.

We are Northern Europe's largest production port for offshore wind and host several test centers – and now also the world's first robotics center for large structures. This combination makes us a unique powerhouse for wind, knowledge, and growth.

With this setup, we have created a unique hub where heavy industry merges with deep knowledge to develop new solutions for future challenges.

Well-established test centers on-site, such as LORC and FORCE, help elevate innovation and quality in Danish industry, allowing companies at Odense Port to be at the forefront of the latest technologies that can optimize their business.

A huge add-on for the entire industrial cluster is the University of Southern Denmark's new robotics center, the Large Structure Production Center, which will develop mega-robots and automated solutions for the production of wind turbines, ships, and constructions.

This simply does not exist anywhere else in the world.

How Can the Robotics Center Help You?

The Robotics Center provides opportunities for companies to meet with researchers and engineers to jointly develop and test new equipment that can optimize processes/products.

Additionally, the Large Structure Production Center offers training facilities and organizes courses for employees, where they can learn to operate different types of robots.

Get an overview of what the robotics engineers can help your company with:

  • Preliminary Research & Consulting - from production design to implementation

  • Testing & Experiments - benchmarking and optimizing equipment/software under laboratory conditions

  • Low Volume Production - fine-tuning and preparing software systems/products for the market with test production

  • Education / Courses - training employees and customers in, for example, the practical use of equipment and welding robots

Welding Robots for Optimizing Wind Production

General challenges with a shortage of skilled welders, high wages, and global competition make welding robots highly sought after in the Danish production of wind turbine foundations.

Therefore, CS Wind Offshore and Inrotech have partnered with the Robotics Center to develop welding robots that can streamline and reduce the cost of production.
